Michelle Cote competed in women's basketball and softball at NHTI from 1998 to 2000, earning All-American recognition during her basketball career.

As a member of the women's basketball program, Cote helped lead the Lynx to an appearance at the National Small College Athletic Association (NSCAA) national tournament in Salina, Kansas, where she was named an All-American. Cote also competed for the NHTI softball program, playing under longtime head coach Deb Smith, a fellow member of the 2026 Hall of Fame Class.

Cote credits Smith and her basketball coach, Linda Brennen, with having a lasting influence on her life. Their mentorship helped shape her experiences at NHTI and her eventual career in education and coaching. Following her time with the Lynx, Cote earned a bachelor's degree in Human Services from Lyndon State College in 2002 and a master's degree in Counseling from the University of New Hampshire in 2010.

Cote has spent more than two decades working in education, including over 15 years at New Hampton School, where she serves as Director of Admission. She has also remained involved in athletics, coaching softball at the high school level and continuing to participate in recreational softball leagues. In 2015, she was inducted into the Essex County Vermont Hall of Fame in recognition of her athletic accomplishments.
