Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 It was a dominating week for NHTI Women's Soccer with wins against University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) & Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS). The week started with NHTI being ranked #4 in the USCAA D2 Women's Soccer poll, and the Lynx quickly proved they deserved that ranking with a
6-0 win against UMA.
Piper Flood started the scoring early with a goal in the 7th minute.
Adrienne Dorr would quickly join her in the score-book with a goal less than two minutes later. Dorr would then finish another goal off of a corner from
Maggie Brown later in the half to give the Lynx a 3-0 halftime lead. That lead would stand for roughly a minute as a quick goal from
Eva LaValley, off a good feed from Dorr, extended the lead out once again. That lead would hold until the final minutes of the game, as an own goal resulted in a 5th tally for NHTI.
Kaiya Richard would have the last mark on the match as she was able to find space and net the final goal of the game. NHTI picked up their 4th shutout of the season behind a 13-1 SOG advantage.
NHTI Head Coach Heidi Crockett had nothing but praise for her team, "The energy on this NHTI Women's Soccer team just continues to build each day as they are finding their identity as a team. This teamwork was how they took what they had been working on all week and executed their game plan against a competitive UMA team. I am really proud of the girls and what they accomplished today."
NHTI would continue to show their talent in a
3-1 win against #9 ACPHS. Once again
Piper Flood would waste no time as she finished off a great overhead flick pass from
Darci Stone for the first goal of the game.
Adrienne Dorr would continue her trend of goal-scoring with another tally a few minutes later as she finished off a terrific pass from Stone to give NHTI a 2nd goal. Mya Wright would find an answer with a goal off a great feed from Raegan Wendel, becoming the first conference opponent to score against the Lynx this season. With the deficit down to one goal,
Darci Stone would once again impact the game as she finished off a great cross from
Kaiya Richard to give NHTI a 3-1 halftime lead. The second half featured terrific defense from both sides as neither team could find another goal.
Hailey Knight made 3 saves in the second half as she helped her team to yet another victory. NHTI out-shot ACPHS by a 6-4 margin, their closest against a conference opponent this season.
"The game against ACPH was a hard-fought battle." Said Heidi Crockett, "I was proud of the team, especially our defensive unit of
Alyviah Blad,
Kylie Prusia,
Tia Bocci and
Kimberly Nadeau as they denied two of the strongest forwards in our conference from scoring. It was a full team effort that gave us the result that we needed."
Following their strong start NHTI will take a well-deserved hiatus, with their next game not scheduled until 10/9 against VTSU-Johnson.
