Box Score NHTI Lynx Women's Soccer did something historic on Tuesday evening. They shutout the Southern Maine CC Seawolves a second time. Never in YSCC history has NHTI, even in their most-dominant years, kept SMCC off the scoreboard twice in one season. The Seawolves have been a powerhouse within the conference for a decade, always in the mix of the top three strongest teams. Last year, they made it to the USCAA National Championship game, where they fell in penalty kicks to Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, another YSCC team.
NHTI is playing with more fire this year. Head Coach, Heidi Crockett says, "You should've seen those girls fight yesterday, it was crazy. I have a couple of my club players that just do not like to lose and I think that has pumped up the others."
Adrienne Dorr and
Eva LaValley scored the two Lynx goals. Dorr currently has nine goals to her name, just one goal shy of being the highest goal scorer in the conference. LaValley is right behind her with eight.
Minding the net for both shutouts was none other than
Hailey Knight. This season she has faced, and denied all 23 shots from the Seawolves. The Lynx defense is as mighty as ever. Returning All-Conference center back,
Morgan Rule, was in exceptional form on Tuesday.
"She was off the chart." Said Crockett, "The Seawolves put two or three girls on her at a time and she always came away with the ball."
The team is locked-in as the regular season comes to a close. The Lynx currently hold second place in the conference standings, trailing only the undefeated Paul Smith's College Bobcats. The Lynx continue a stretch of away games this week with a match against Hampshire College on Saturday, October 7.
