CONCORD, N.H. - NHTI Baseball hits the road for its first countable away games of the season Saturday, traveling to Vermont State University Lyndon for a doubleheader beginning at noon at Skip Pound Baseball Field.
The Lynx enter the weekend 1-2 overall and 0-1 in Yankee Small College Conference play after earning their first victory of the season Tuesday with a 3-2 win over Vermont State University Randolph. Saturday marks NHTI's first competition since Thursday's scheduled scrimmage against Bridgton Academy was postponed.
Through three countable games, NHTI is batting .250 as a team with 24 hits, eight doubles and 18 runs scored. The Lynx have also been aggressive on the bases, converting 11 of 14 stolen-base attempts.
Daniel Sherkanowski (Bristol, N.H.) enters Saturday batting .375 with three hits and two RBI, while Owen Stewart (Pembroke, N.H.) has driven in a team-high four runs through his first three games. Pierre Mendez (Manchester, N.H.) has collected two doubles and two RBI while hitting .400, and Harrison Reeder (Exeter, N.H.) has three hits in six at-bats with three runs scored.
On the mound, NHTI has posted a 5.88 team ERA through 26 innings while recording 25 strikeouts. TJ Charbono (Franklin, N.H.) has allowed just one earned run over nine innings for a 1.00 ERA and leads the staff with 12 strikeouts. Isaac Clough (Antrim, N.H.) has yet to allow an earned run through 4.2 innings while striking out five.
Saturday will mark the second meeting between NHTI and VTSU Lyndon in the teams' recorded series history. The Hornets earned a 7-5 victory in nine innings in the previous matchup on Oct. 15, 2023, in Lyndonville.
First pitch of Saturday's opener is scheduled for noon, with game two set to follow at approximately 2 p.m.
