CONCORD, N.H. – NHTI Baseball is set to conclude its fall schedule with a doubleheader against Kent State University at Tuscarawas, Sunday, Oct. 18, at the NHTI Baseball Field. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m., with game two set to begin at 1 p.m.
The Lynx enter Sunday's contests with a 2-7 overall record after falling to the Golden Eagles, 12-6, Saturday (Oct. 17) in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Both games Sunday will be seven-inning, countable non-conference contests and will not impact the Yankee Small College Conference standings.
Despite Saturday's loss, NHTI saw a pair of notable offensive performances, as Camden Morrill (Raymond, N.H.) and Nick Snoonian (Ashburnham, Mass.) each homered in the matchup.
Morrill connected on a three-run home run in the fifth inning, marking his second career homer in as many games after hitting his first Wednesday against Vermont State University Randolph. With two home runs this fall, Morrill is tied for second in the YSCC.
Snoonian followed with a two-run home run as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning, recording the first home run of his collegiate career. The two long balls accounted for five of NHTI's six runs in Saturday's contest.
Kent State Tuscarawas built an early advantage in Saturday's matchup, scoring six runs across the first two innings before extending its lead to 12-1 in the fifth. NHTI responded with five unanswered runs over the next two innings but was unable to complete the comeback.
The Golden Eagles also faced Great Bay Community College at the NHTI Baseball Field later Saturday, earning a 9-8 victory in seven innings. Sunday's doubleheader will conclude their three-day trip to New Hampshire, which also included two games against Great Bay on Friday.
For NHTI, Sunday marks the final opportunity to add to its fall record before returning to competition in the spring. The Lynx will look to build on their recent offensive production after scoring nine runs in Wednesday's victory over Vermont State University Randolph (Oct. 14) and six against Kent State Tuscarawas on Saturday (Oct. 17).
Both games will be available to watch live on the YSCC Sports Network.
