CONCORD, N.H. - NHTI Baseball returns to the diamond Tuesday afternoon when the Lynx host the Vermont State University Randolph Knights for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference contest.
Tuesday's matchup will be NHTI's third countable game of the fall season. The Lynx enter at 0-2 overall and 0-1 in Yankee Small College Conference play, with their other three contests to date being scrimmages.
NHTI most recently fell 16-14 in 10 innings against Central Maine Community College on Friday in its YSCC opener. The Lynx trailed 14-4 after six innings before scoring 10 unanswered runs across the seventh, eighth, and ninth to force extra innings. Central Maine ultimately plated two runs in the top of the 10th to earn the victory.
Through NHTI's two countable games, the Lynx are hitting .288 as a team with a .397 on-base percentage and .394 slugging percentage. NHTI has recorded 19 hits, including seven doubles, while stealing eight bases in 11 attempts.
Dillon Depietro (Amherst, N.H.) has opened the season 4-for-8 at the plate for a team-leading .500 batting average among regular contributors, scoring twice and driving in one run.
Pierre Mendez (Manchester, N.H.) is batting .400 with two doubles, two RBIs, and a .571 on-base percentage while going 2-for-2 on stolen-base attempts. Mendez delivered the game-tying double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth against CMCC on Sept. 11.
Depietro and Mendez both enter Tuesday's meeting with VTSU Randolph on two-game hitting streaks.
Owen Stewart (Pembroke, N.H.) has driven in a team-high four runs and scored three times through the opening two countable games, while
Preston Stowe (Hatteras, N.C.) has reached base in all four plate appearances. Stowe is 2-for-2 with a walk, hit-by-pitch, RBI, and a stolen base.
On the mound,
Isaac Clough (Antrim, N.H.) has yet to allow an earned run through 4.2 innings, striking out five.
Brenden Ringman (Chicopee, Mass.) has also recorded five strikeouts across 4.1 innings, and
TJ Charbono (Franklin, N.H.) has struck out four in three innings of work.
Tuesday will mark NHTI's first scheduled meeting with Vermont State University Randolph listed in the Lynx's available online history.
First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Concord.
