Box Score CONCORD, N.H. – NHTI Men's Soccer opened its regular-season home slate with a 2-2 draw against Word of Life Bible Institute Saturday afternoon at the NHTI Men's Soccer Field as part of Homecoming Weekend.
The Lynx trailed 1-0 at halftime before Delvaughn Daley (Randolph, Mass.) scored twice in the second half to help NHTI earn its first result of the season.
Daley, who entered the match as NHTI's leading scorer, accounted for both Lynx goals and doubled his season total from two to four.
Word of Life broke through in the opening half to take a one-goal advantage into the break. NHTI created several opportunities of its own during the opening 45 minutes but was unable to find the equalizer.
The Lynx pulled even midway through the second half after earning a penalty kick. Daley stepped to the spot and converted to make it 1-1.
NHTI goalkeeper Kurt Olson kept the match level later in the half, turning away a Word of Life penalty kick.
The Huskies eventually regained the advantage inside the final 12 minutes, taking a 2-1 lead and putting the Lynx in need of another response.
Daley provided it.
At 84:49, Jacob Hanson (Pembroke, N.H.) sent the ball forward from deep in NHTI's defensive end to midfield, where Alexander Musienko collected it and played Daley in behind the Word of Life defense. Daley finished the opportunity for his second goal of the afternoon, tying the match at 2-2.
Word of Life nearly reclaimed the lead in the closing minutes, including an attempt that struck the crossbar, but neither side could produce a winner before the final whistle.
The draw moves NHTI to 0-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in YSCC play, earning the Lynx their first conference point of the season.
