UPDATE (Oct. 24): NHTI Men's Basketball will face Busche Academy 2 at 1 p.m., and Busche Academy 2 at 3 p.m., reversing the previously scheduled order of games. All other game details remain the same as previously scheduled.
CONCORD, N.H. – NHTI Men's Basketball continues its preparations for the 2026-27 season Saturday afternoon, hosting a pair of preseason scrimmages against Busche Academy at the Dr. Goldie Crocker Wellness Center.
The Lynx will face Busche Academy 1 at 1 p.m. before taking on Busche Academy 2 at 3 p.m., marking NHTI's first competition against an outside opponent this season.
Saturday's matchups follow NHTI's White vs. Gold intrasquad scrimmage last Sunday, which saw Gold earn a 74-69 victory. The exhibition provided an early opportunity for the Lynx to compete in game action ahead of the upcoming season.
NHTI enters its second season under head coach Kieth Matte, who took over the program in 2025 following more than two decades of coaching experience. Matte previously led Lebanon High School to three NHIAA state championships, 24 consecutive tournament appearances, and 23 winning seasons.
Matte is joined on the sidelines by assistant coaches KJ Matte, his son, David Sheppard and Logan Paronto, all entering their second seasons with the program.
Saturday's matchups also mark a reunion for Sheppard, who previously served as a head coach at Busche Academy. Sheppard brings more than a decade of experience coaching at the AAU and prep school levels and currently oversees recruiting and player relationships for the Lynx.
Kanye Foster (Hartford, Conn.) and Calvin Goldbolt (Springfield, Mass.) were named captains for the 2026-27 season.
NHTI looks to build on a 2025-26 campaign in which it finished 5-15 overall and 4-11 in Yankee Small College Conference play.
Both games against Busche Academy are preseason scrimmages and will not count toward either team's official record or conference standings.
The scrimmages will not be streamed live, however, all regular-season home and conference games can be found at YSCCSportsNetwork.com. For the most up-to-date information, visit NHTIAthletics.com.
The Lynx return to the court Sunday, Oct. 25, hosting Roxbury Community College in another preseason scrimmage at 3 p.m. at the Dr. Goldie Crocker Wellness Center. Sunday's matchup will conclude a stretch of three scrimmages home across two days.
