CONCORD, N.H. – NHTI Softball returns to action Wednesday afternoon, traveling to Southern Maine Community College for a countable non-conference doubleheader at Graves Athletic Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., with game two scheduled for 4:30 p.m. The doubleheader was originally scheduled for Sept. 18 before being postponed and rescheduled for Wednesday.
The Lynx enter the matchup 0-2 after opening their fall schedule with a pair of losses to Central Maine Community College on Sept. 14. NHTI fell 19-1 in five innings in the opener before dropping game two, 21-2 in four innings. NHTI has had each of its three scheduled doubleheaders since then postponed, including the original Sept. 18 matchup with Southern Maine. Doubleheaders at the University of Maine at Augusta on Sept. 20 and Central Maine on Sept. 26 were also postponed, leaving the Lynx without a game for 16 days entering Wednesday. Sept. 29's matchup with the UNH club team was a controlled scrimmage with no final score recorded.
Through two games, NHTI is batting .219 as a team with seven hits and four walks. Lilly McNeilly (Lebanon, N.H.) and Kaitlyn Durfee (Laconia, N.H.) have each recorded two hits in four at-bats for a .500 batting average, while Ellie Procuiner (Buckeye, Ariz.) is batting .333 with a double, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. Haley Hebert (Litchfield, N.H.) has driven in a team-high two runs.
Durfee and Hebert have handled the pitching duties for the Lynx through the opening doubleheader. Durfee has thrown four innings, while Hebert has worked five innings.
Southern Maine enters Wednesday 3-3 on the fall after splitting each of its first three doubleheaders. The Seawolves opened the season with 4-1 and 15-7 wins at Central Maine before dropping two games at the University of Maine at Augusta, 8-3 and 10-2. Most recently, Southern Maine split a Sept. 22 doubleheader against Central Maine, winning the opener 9-1 before falling 6-4 in game two.
Wednesday marks the first meeting between NHTI and Southern Maine since April 22, 2025. The Seawolves swept that doubleheader in Brunswick, 16-1 and 8-0. Southern Maine has won nine consecutive meetings in the series, while NHTI holds a 34-19 advantage in the all-time series dating back to Sept. 25, 2011.
