Softball Travels to Central Maine for Monday Doubleheader

CONCORD, N.H. – NHTI Softball returns to countable action Monday, Oct. 5, traveling to Central Maine Community College for a non-conference doubleheader at Tribou Field in Auburn, Maine.

First pitch of game one is scheduled for 4 p.m., with game two set to follow at approximately 6 p.m. The doubleheader is currently scheduled to conclude NHTI's fall slate.

Monday's games were originally scheduled for Sept. 26 before being postponed and rescheduled for Oct. 5. Although NHTI and Central Maine are both members of the Yankee Small College Conference, the doubleheader is designated as non-conference and will not factor into the YSCC standings.

NHTI enters Monday 0-4 in countable competition following a pair of losses at Southern Maine Community College on Sept. 30. The Lynx fell 24-0 in five innings in game one before dropping an 11-2 decision in five innings in the nightcap.

Kaitlyn Durfee (Laconia, N.H.) has led the NHTI offense through four games, batting .556 with a team-high five hits across nine at-bats. Durfee has scored twice and is a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen-base attempts.

Lilly McNeilly (Lebanon, Maine) has recorded two hits in four at-bats for a .500 average, while Camilla Cote (Northfield, N.H.), Ellie Procunier (Buckeye, Ariz.) and Jasmine Chemtai have each recorded two hits. Procunier has NHTI's lone extra-base hit with a double and has reached base at a .400 clip.

The Lynx have been active on the basepaths throughout the fall, successfully stealing 12 bases in 13 attempts. In addition to Durfee's four steals, Procunier is 3-for-3, Haley Hebert (Litchfield, N.H.) is 2-for-2 and Cote is 1-for-1.

Hebert leads NHTI with two RBIs, while Leila Topham (Rowlett, Texas) has driven in one run.

Monday will mark the second doubleheader between NHTI and Central Maine this fall. The Mustangs earned 19-1 and 21-2 victories when the teams opened NHTI's season Sept. 14 in Concord.

NHTI collected seven hits across the opening doubleheader, including a 2-for-2 performance from Durfee in game one. Procunier scored the Lynx' first run of the season before doubling in game two, while Hebert drove home both NHTI runs in the nightcap with a two-run single.

Central Maine's Sierra Clugston delivered a three-run home run in the second game and finished the Sept. 14 doubleheader with six RBIs.

The Mustangs enter Monday with a 4-10 record after splitting a pair of games Sunday. Central Maine fell 6-4 to Massachusetts Maritime Academy before earning an 11-7 victory over Dean College.

Central Maine has faced Southern Maine six times this fall, going 1-5 against the Seawolves, and has also played four games against the University of Maine at Augusta.

NHTI holds a 26-21 advantage in the all-time series against Central Maine dating back to the programs' first recorded meeting on Sept. 18, 2011.

The Mustangs have won each of the last nine meetings in the series dating back to April 19, 2023. NHTI's most recent victory came April 7, 2023, when the Lynx earned a 17-12 win in Concord.

Monday will be NHTI's first trip to Central Maine since April 24, 2025. The Lynx are 1-6 in recorded road meetings against the Mustangs, with their lone victory in Auburn coming in an 11-3, six-inning win on Sept. 7, 2019.

NHTI previously put together a 21-game winning streak against Central Maine from Sept. 14, 2013, through April 28, 2019.

The Lynx hosted their annual Alumni Game Sunday as part of NHTI Homecoming Weekend before returning to countable competition Monday.

First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Tribou Field, with game two set for approximately 6 p.m. Both games will be streamed live through Central Maine Community College Athletics' YouTube channel.
