Men's Basketball Falls Late in Shootout

CONCORD, N.H. - In a high-scoring matchup Sunday afternoon, Washington County CC pulled away late to defeat NHTI 97-90 at Dr. Goldie Crocker Wellness Center.

Washington County controlled much of the opening half until NHTI closed on a strong run, making plays on both ends to pull even at 38 heading into the break. The back-and-forth trend continued into the second half, with both teams trading runs before the Golden Eagles pulled away late.

For the visitors, Isaiah Fox became unstoppable in the second half, notching 29 of his game-high 33 points in the final 20 minutes while collecting a game-best 13 rebounds. Odessey Keeling added 27 on 12-of-21 shooting and was disruptive defensively, finishing with eight steals and three assists. The duo combined for 60 of the visitors 97 points and proved decisive down the stretch.

NHTI's Demery Hadges finished with a team and career-high 20 points and turned in one of his most complete games of the season, adding 11 rebounds and two steals. "Demery takes a step forward every time he plays", said head coach Kieth Matte. "His game is evolving, and his leadership is growing, and we couldn't be more excited."

Another freshman Christian Forsythe also played crucial minutes, tallying a 12-point, 11- rebound double-double. "Christian is another guy who is getting better every game," said Matte. "Our staff is very excited about the production we have seen from our freshman so far this season."

Mossyah Nembhard stepped into the starting lineup and finished with 17 points, knocking down five from beyond the arc. AJ Richardson also provided a spark, scoring 16 points on 50% from the floor, while Elie Guirand played 27 minutes off the bench, adding a career-high 11 points.

With the loss, NHTI falls to 0-8 on the season while WCCC improves to 4-6.
