Women's Basketball Drops Two in Weekend Doubleheader

CONCORD, N.H. — The NHTI women's basketball team opened its 2025–26 season with a pair of home contests at the Dr. Goldie Crocker Wellness Center, falling to Bunker Hill Community College on Saturday (47–42) and to Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on Sunday (64–40).

The Lynx came out sharp in their season opener, outscoring Bunker Hill 20–12 in the first quarter behind a strong 46% from the floor. Momentum shifted in the second period, however, as the visitors held NHTI to just eight points, cutting the lead to 28–21 going into halftime. The Bulldogs carried their momentum into the second half, outscoring the hosts 12-8 in the third. NHTI hung around, as the hosts found themselves down by just one basket late in the fourth following a Kaitlin Arenella layup with 1:34 remaining. Bunker Hill answered with late baskets to hold off the late surge and secure the 47-44 win.

Arenella led the way with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Bella Ferrazzani posted a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards. Zoey Smith added five points and four rebounds, and Jayce Mendez chipped in five points and four assists.

NHTI faced a quick turnaround against a strong Albany College of Pharmacy squad in its YSCC opener on Sunday. The Lynx stayed close early, trailing 18–13 after one quarter, but Albany pulled away with a 22–9 second period to take a 40–22 halftime advantage. The third quarter proved pivotal as NHTI was limited to just five points, and despite a late push in the fourth, the deficit proved too large to overcome.

Arenella again led NHTI with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Mendez and Smith each scored nine. Ferrazzani anchored the glass with 11 rebounds; Arenella also added three blocks on the defensive end.

With the results, NHTI begins the season 0–2 overall and 0–1 in YSCC play.
