NHTI continued their strong start to their season with a dominating 8-0 win against a shorthanded VTSU-Randolph squad. The game started slowly with no scoring in the first 20 minutes of the match. That changed quickly as a
Jaden Burt shot deflected off the keeper to
Isabell Molony who buried the rebound for the first goal. Molony switched from scorer to facilitator 3 minutes later as her pass found
Megan Pellerin, who finished the close-range shot for the second goal. The next shot was anything but close range, as
Tia Bocci fired a strike from near midfield that took a friendly hop and nestled in the goal to give the Lynx a 3-0 halftime lead.
In a shortened 8v8 second half, the Lynx found 5 goals in the first 15 minutes of the half.
Darci Stone found the first with a low-driven shot to the corner.
Piper Flood then scored after settling down a perfect cross from
Megan Pellerin. Unfinished, Flood would score yet again 3 minutes later, this time off the corner kick of
Kaiya Richard. Flood would then pick up an assist as her pass to
Darci Stone resulted in goal 7 on the game for NHTI. The last goal was perhaps the best, as a lofted cross from Eva Lavally was speared out of the air by
Isabell Molony for the final tally.
The Lynx out-shot the Knights 39-1 with a 17-0 SOG disparity.
Hailey Knight picked up her 3rd straight shutout for NHTI in a dominating game for the Defense. So far the Lynx have yet to surrender a goal through 3 games and have out-shot their opponents by a combined margin of 50-10 SOG. NHTI will have their next home game on the 21st at 1:30 as they take on a team of Alumni, then they'll have their next conference game at home on the 24th as they take on the Moose of UMA.
