NHTI Baseball Falls to York County in Season Opener, 11-1

CONCORD, N.H. - NHTI Baseball opened its 2026 season Tuesday afternoon with an 11-1 non-conference loss to York County Community College at home.

York jumped out to a 4-0 advantage in the top of the first inning before the Lynx answered with their lone run in the bottom half. Alan Mercedes (Santo Domingo, DR) scored the run after recording a double, while Pierre Mendez (Ponce, PR) added a double of his own and was credited with the RBI. Mendez also stole two bases in the contest.

NHTI held the Hawks scoreless over the next two innings before York added two runs in the fourth to extend its lead to 6-1. Kaelib Norman (Detroit, Mich.) worked a scoreless inning of relief for the Lynx, while Brenden Ringman (Chicopee, Mass.) allowed no earned runs and struck out two over two innings. TJ Charbono (Franklin, N.H.) followed with two scoreless frames, allowing two hits and striking out one.

The Lynx finished with five hits, with Mercedes, Mendez, Nick Snoonian (Ashburnham, Mass.), Dillon Depietro (Amherst, N.H.), and Camden Morrill (Raymond, N.H.) each recording one. York broke the game open with five runs in the seventh inning to take an 11-1 lead. The game, originally scheduled for nine innings, ended after seven due to the 10-run mercy rule.

The loss marked York County's fifth consecutive victory in the series, as NHTI moved to 5-13 against the Hawks dating back to the programs' first recorded meeting in 2022. While Tuesday's matchup was a non-conference contest, the two YSCC opponents will meet twice more this season in a conference doubleheader on April 9 in Concord.
