CONCORD, N.H. — In a thrilling extra-inning battle, Brayden Squires came through in the clutch, delivering a walk-off sacrifice fly in the 10th inning to lift NHTI past UMaine-Augusta in YSCC action Wednesday afternoon.
The win marks NHTI's third straight in the series, dating back to October 2025, when the Lynx swept the Moose on the road.
How it happened:
UMaine-Augusta wasted no time setting the tone, as Elias Murray ripped a leadoff double to ignite an early surge. The Moose quickly capitalized, plating three runs to take a 3-0 lead. NHTI didn't stay quiet for long as the Lynx steadily chipped away and pulled even in the third inning, with Josh MacDonald driving in a run on a well-placed sacrifice fly to tie things up.
Both teams settled in for a stretch before the action picked back up in the seventh. Nick Snoonian delivered a clutch pinch-hit single up the middle, bringing home two runs and giving NHTI a 6-4 edge.
With their backs against the wall in the ninth, Augusta refused to go away quietly. Matt Donley and Davis Kibler each came through with timely hits, knotting the game at six apiece. Will Henderson took the mound in the bottom of the inning, providing a shutdown frame to push the game into extras.
In the 10th, Brenden Ringman matched that effort, silencing the Moose and giving the offense a golden opportunity. Ethan Weimer worked a patient leadoff walk and moved into scoring position on a passed ball. After Charles Hibbert lined a single to put runners on the corners, Squires stepped to the plate and delivered the decisive moment, launching a deep fly ball to center field that easily brought home the winning run, sending the Lynx dugout into celebration.
On the mound:
Nate Mattson turned in an impressive outing for NHTI, going six strong innings while keeping Augusta in check. He allowed a trio of runs and struck out three, setting the tone throughout the contest for the Lynx.
