CONCORD, N.H. — The NHTI men's and women's cross-country teams hosted and competed in the YSCC Championship on Saturday, November 1. 

The women's six-kilometer trek through the Seakamp Running Trails kicked off the day's competition, with Albany College of Pharmacy taking the team title. The Panthers placed six runners in the top 15, including individual champion Lucia Sushynski, who completed the course in 28 minutes. For NHTI, Amy Schwab was the lone competitor, finishing 27th with a time of 36:53. 

On the men's side, Eli Lemire captured his second consecutive individual title, finishing the eight-kilometer race in 28:08. Three other Lynx finished in the top 10, including Jaron Labranche (fifth, 31:22), Michael Wilson (ninth, 32:20), and Andrew Strauss (tenth, 33:02). Jorge Guerra rounded out NHTI's competitors, finishing in 36:05. The men's team placed second overall, just one point shy of Paul Smith's who claimed their fourth straight title.  

"This season has been a challenge for our men's team," said head coach Graham Hayslip. "We had just enough members to score as a team, so any injury or illness this season really impacted the team's ability to perform. Despite this, our team came in with decent fitness and worked hard to race their best this season. One of my favorite moments was seeing Jaron break the 30 minute mark in the 8k earlier this season, coming from a basketball and track background he has adjusted well to the longer distance. As for Eli, he has really been an inspiration to us as a team all year and is the caliber of athlete that rivals, and in some metrics surpasses some of the best we have ever had at this school. I am looking forward to seeing what he can accomplish in the Spring."

With their finishes in first and fifth, Eli Lemire and Jaron Labranche both earned YSCC All-Conference nominations. 

NHTI will compete at the USCAA Championship on November 8th in Pennsylvania.
