CONCORD, NH – The NHTI men's basketball team opened YSCC play on Sunday afternoon, falling 63–56 to Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
The Panthers came out of the gates and controlled play early, shooting an impressive 85% from inside the arc to gain a 28-12 lead at the five-minute mark. The Lynx response, led by a defensive effort that caused 11 first half turnovers, sparked an 18-5 run that found the hosts down 33-30 after the opening 20.
The two sides battled hard, trading buckets into the second half until baskets from Alex Carillo and free throws from Logan Yohe and DJ Bridges gave Albany a 57-49 lead with six minutes to play. NHTI had opportunities late but couldn't convert, as ACPHS clawed their way to a 63-56 victory away from home.
The Panthers leaned on strong production from Alex Carrillo (20 points, 8 rebounds) and Logan Yohe (14 points). The Panthers converted 16-of-27 free throws, including 13-of-19 in the second half to preserve the win.
The Lynx were led by AJ Richardson's team-high 19 points, while Tyjae Julien added 10 points and seven boards. Freshman Demery Hadges provided an important boost with 8 points, 10 rebounds, and two triples.
The Lynx (0–1, 0–1 YSCC) head on the road Thursday to take on Central Maine CC.
