David Sheppard joined the NHTI men's basketball staff in 2025, bringing a deep resume of coaching experience at the AAU, prep school and now collegiate levels. Known for his energy, connection with players, and commitment to skill development, Sheppard has established himself as one of the region's most respected teachers of the game.
Sheppard has spent more than a decade coaching on the AAU circuit, most notably leading the highly successful No Wasted Reps program, where he developed numerous college-level athletes and built a reputation for high standards, detailed skill work, and a player-first culture. In addition to his AAU background, he has also served as head coach at the prep school level, including Proctor Academy and Busche Academy, where he guided teams against some of the top prep talent in the country.
At NHTI, Sheppard oversees recruitng and player relationships, serving as a key point of contact for prospective student-athletes and a daily mentor for players in the program. His experience, communication skills, and ability to connect with athletes make him a vital part of the Lynx coaching staff.
Sheppard played collegiately at Hesser College, where he competed in the Yankee Small College Conference and began shaping the coaching perspective he brings to the court today.
